Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups plain yogurt Can use Greek yogurt for a thicker texture.
  • 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced Varieties like Granny Smith or Fuji work well.
  • 1 cup sugar Divided into two portions.
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional) Can enhance flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, cook the sliced apples with half of the sugar until soft and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, remaining sugar, yogurt, vanilla extract, salt, and cinnamon until smooth.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the caramelized apples in the baking dish.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the flan is set and lightly golden on top.
  2. Let it cool to room temperature before refrigerating.
  3. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Store the flan in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze it wrapped for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before serving. Serve slices garnished with cinnamon or apple slices for flair.
