Ingredients

For the pastry
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 egg beaten, for egg wash
For the filling
  • 2 medium apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Optional toppings
  • to taste powdered sugar for dusting

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, and cinnamon. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into squares or rectangles, about 4x4 inches.
  5. Place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each pastry square.
  6. Fold the corners of the pastry over the apple filling, creating a parcel. Pinch the edges to seal.
Baking
  1. Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg to give them a golden color.
  2. Place the rolls on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.
Serving
  1. Allow to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar, if desired.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Best enjoyed fresh. Can be stored for up to 2 days at room temperature or frozen for up to 1 month.
